Advertising and commercial transparency

Veridia separates any commercial material from independent editorial information and uses clear labels for readers.

1. Purpose

This policy explains how advertising may appear without changing the editorial nature of the site. It applies to display placements, sponsorship and commercial links.

2. Labelling

Paid placements are labelled in language a reader can understand. They are not presented as independent reporting, clinical advice or a recommendation.

3. Editorial independence

Advertisers cannot select conclusions, remove criticism, determine a headline or influence a correction. The editorial desk controls the content it publishes.

4. Health claims

We do not publish commercial health claims that are misleading, unsupported or likely to confuse general education with treatment. Commercial pages must comply with applicable UK advertising standards.

5. Prohibited relationships

We do not accept arrangements that require guaranteed positive coverage or access to personal health information. We avoid endorsements that imply a clinical outcome.

6. Links

Commercial links may use tracking parameters, which are described in the privacy and cookie policies. A link does not mean that Veridia has verified every claim on the destination site.

7. Reader choice

Readers may ignore commercial material and continue using editorial pages. Optional analytics choices are handled separately through the cookie banner.

8. Complaints

Report a misleading placement to 78 Elmwood Gardens, Islington, London, N1 1AB or 020 7946 0958 with the page, date and concern.

9. Review

Commercial activity is reviewed for labelling, relevance and separation. We record significant complaints and consider whether a placement should be removed.

10. Change log

This policy was reviewed on 5 October 2026. Future changes to commercial formats or labelling will be dated here.

The policy applies to any display placement, sponsorship, affiliate link, commercial directory entry or other arrangement that may provide financial or in-kind value to Veridia. It applies across desktop and mobile presentation and to material supplied by an advertiser. Editorial pages remain subject to the editorial policy even where a commercial placement appears nearby.

Labels should be visible before or at the point a reader encounters paid material. Wording such as “Advertisement”, “Sponsored” or “Commercial link” is used according to the format, and visual design should not make paid material appear to be an independent article. Paid material is not a substitute for evidence or personal advice.

Before acceptance, proposed advertisers may be reviewed for lawful operation, audience suitability, claims, privacy practice and the clarity of their destination page. We may decline or remove material that is misleading, discriminatory, unsafe, unlawful, or inconsistent with this site’s informational purpose. A commercial relationship is not evidence that Veridia has tested a product or service.

Tracking parameters may identify a campaign or referral without revealing the contents of a contact message. Optional analytics and advertising measurement are not activated without the relevant consent where consent is required. Commercial partners do not receive a reader’s name, email address or health information from Veridia unless the reader chooses to provide it directly on the partner’s own website.

Complaints about a label, claim or commercial placement can be sent to 78 Elmwood Gardens, Islington, London, N1 1AB, or by telephone on 020 7946 0958. We aim to acknowledge a report within five working days and provide an initial decision or update within 10 working days. Relevant UK advertising requirements, including applicable CAP Code principles, are considered when material is reviewed.

Advertising records may be retained for up to 24 months after a campaign ends, with invoices and tax records retained for the period required by law. This policy was reviewed on 5 October 2026, and future material changes will carry a new effective date.

The policy applies to display placements, sponsorships, affiliate links, commercial directory entries and other arrangements that provide financial or in-kind value to Veridia. It covers desktop and mobile presentation, supplied creative, landing-page links and campaign measurement. It does not make a paid placement an editorial endorsement. Editorial pages remain subject to the editorial policy even where a commercial placement appears nearby.

Labels should be visible before or when a reader encounters paid material. Terms such as “Advertisement”, “Sponsored” or “Commercial link” may be used according to the format. Design should not make a paid unit appear to be an independent article or hide its commercial nature through small or low-contrast text. A destination page may have separate privacy and terms information.

We may decline or remove material that is misleading, discriminatory, unsafe, unlawful or inconsistent with the site’s informational purpose. A commercial relationship is not evidence that Veridia has tested a product or service. Advertiser-provided statements remain the advertiser’s responsibility, subject to our review and applicable UK advertising rules.

Campaign parameters may identify a source, placement or referral without revealing the contents of a contact message. Optional measurement is not activated without relevant consent where consent is required. Analytics and consent records follow the retention periods described in the privacy and cookie policies.
